Let me introduce myself. I have taught Music for 17 years, and this is my 15th year teaching at Bennington Elementary. Teaching music is my passion, and there are so many things I love about my job! I am blessed to get the opportunity to watch my students grow over time in their musical skills, such as with singing, playing recorders, drums, and xylophones. I also love the process that students take in learning a piece of music and how they can layer and build with many instruments, rhythms, melodies, and movement! I love seeing my students shine in the classroom and on stage, and I am very grateful to get to make music with them every day!
I grew up in Omaha, where I attended Millard Public Schools. I attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Master's degree in Music. I am certified in Orff-Schulwerk, which means I have completed all three levels of Orff-Schulwerk study. I have also attended four American Orff-Schulwerk Association national conferences and participate in Saturday workshops for the Great Plains Orff Chapter, where I have also presented and served on the board of the Great Plains Orff Chapter as Historian for many years. I have also completed all three levels of Kodaly certification and presented for the Plains States Kodaly Organization in January 2018. I have also completed all three levels of World Music Drumming certification. I have been married to my husband, Bob, for fifteen years. We have beautiful twin daughters, Anne and Claire who are 8, and a 4 year old son, Ben. We love to take walks, travel, read, watch movies, and go out to eat! |
